  62.           Strobe 1.0 is a memory-resident program which replaces the
  63.           standard blinking cursor with a very visible inverted block. The
  64.           cursor blink rate can be changed or stopped altogether and the
  65.           cursor color can be set. Works with laptop and desktop computers
  66.           and supports all video adapters while using only 1.5K of memory.

  97.      Strobe is a memory-resident program which converts the standard
  98.      blinking cursor to an inverted block which is much easier to see,
  99.      especially on laptop displays.

  129.      Printing the Manual
  130.      ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

  132.      The Strobe User's Guide will be approximately 35 pages long when
  133.      printed. Also, the maximum length of its pages is 59 lines, this
  134.      allows it to be printed on all printers including laser printers
  135.      limited to 60 lines-per-page.
  136.  
  137.      The document contains IBM graphics characters (like "│", "╥", and
  138.      "█"). If your printer cannot print these characters, use the program
  139.      PRINTEXT.COM included with the Strobe package to convert these
  140.      characters into printable versions (like "|", "+", and "#"). For
  141.      example type the following to print the User's Manual to LPT1:

  143.           PRINTEXT STROBE.DOC /C
  144.  
  145.      Because of these characters, you should use a fixed-pitch font (not
  146.      proportionally spaced) for proper printing of the diagrams.

  149.      Installation
  150.      ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

  152.      Strobe should be installed on your boot-disk so that is loaded into
  153.      memory each time the computer is restarted.

  155.      Follow these steps to install Strobe on a floppy diskette:
  156.  
  157.           1. Insert the Strobe distribution diskette into your computer's
  158.              diskette drive.
  159.  
  160.              This installation procedure will assume that drive A: contains
  161.              the Strobe distribution diskette and that drive B: is the
  162.              destination drive where the files will be installed.

  169.           2. Type the following command to copy the files from the
  170.              distribution disk.
  171.  
  172.                COPY A:*.* B: and press <Enter>
  173.  
  174.              If your system is equipped with one drive, you will be
  175.              prompted to swap diskettes several times (you may wish to use
  176.              XCOPY instead to reduce the amount of swapping required).

  179.      Follow these steps to install Strobe on a hard-drive:
  180.  
  181.           1. Insert the Strobe diskette into your computer's diskette
  182.              drive.
  183.  
  184.           2. Log onto the hard-disk drive, for example if it is drive C:
  185.              then type:

  187.                C: and press <Enter>
  188.  
  189.           3. Create a new directory for the Strobe distribution files by
  190.              entering the following command:
  191.  
  192.                MD \STROBE and press <Enter>
  193.  
  194.           4. Change to the newly created directory by typing:

  196.                CD \STROBE and press <Enter>
  197.  
  198.           5. Copy the files from the distribution disk to the new
  199.              directory:

  201.                COPY A:*.* and press <Enter>

  204.      Quick Start
  205.      ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

  207.      The Strobe package includes a menu-driven batch file, INTRO.BAT, which
  208.      can be used to print the documentation and load Strobe into memory. To
  209.      run the INTRO program, just type the following at the DOS prompt:
  210.  
  211.           INTRO and press <Enter>
  212.  
  213.      If you would rather just load the program immediately, type the
  214.      following:
  215.  
  216.           STROBE and press <Enter>
  217.

  223.      Strobe will display a list of command-line options and tell you that
  224.      it is installed in memory and the cursor should have changed to a
  225.      large block.

  232.      Strobe is provided at no charge for evaluation purposes only. It is a
  233.      copyrighted program and is neither free nor public domain software.
  234.      You are entitled to evaluate the program on your own equipment for no
  235.      more than 30 days. At the end of this period you must either register
  236.      the program or cease using it.

  238.      As a registered user of Strobe, you will receive:

  240.           1. The registered version of the software which omits all
  241.              registration reminders and delays, and therefore uses less
  242.              memory.

  246.              the very latest version.
